Edward Durell Stone renovation praised by national panel of architectural judges.

The Modernist renovation and expansion received a design award from the American Institute of Architects San Francisco chapter.

The jury noted that a number of Stone’s buildings across the US have been renovated or altered in recent years, and this project rises to the difficult challenge of how to touch an important modernist work: how to respond to one and even enhance one without destroying it. Thoughtful projects like this will bring long overdue attention to the breadth and importance of Stone’s work.”
