Community library recognized for its revitalization and inspiration

Last week the Northern California chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) honored the San Pablo Library with an award for the Small Cities/Rural Communities Structure category. The library was submitted by the City of San Pablo not only on its merits as a bold, new presence along San Pablo’s major commercial corridor, but for project’s reimagining and revitalization of an abandoned Walgreens shopping plaza!

The 20,000 SF project – which quadrupled the size of San Pablo’s public library while providing an independently-accessible community meeting room and cafe tenant space – opened in 2017.

Congratulations to the City of San Pablo on your great work, and to the City and APWA for celebrating this inspiring community project!
