Elk Grove District56 Master Plan
Elk Grove, CA
The City of Elk Grove commissioned Group 4 to lead a master planning process for a 56-acre undeveloped site at the intersection of Big Horn Boulevard and Civic Center Drive. Building upon years of previous work, including City Council review, community input, and identified facility needs, Group 4 worked together with SWA Group to establish a master concept for a civic campus. The campus facilities include an aquatics center, a new public library, and a new community/senior center, clustered at the north end, and designed to “dissipate” moving south to allow much of the site to be open parkland.
Implementation of the campus – renamed “District56” – is underway. The destination aquatics center, which includes competition and recreational pools, opened in the spring of 2019. Designed by Group 4, the “Center at District56” opened in the fall of 2019.
