Teresa Rom Promoted to Principal at Group 4

Group 4 is proud to announce the promotion of Teresa Rom, AIA, LEED AP to Principal.

For those who have worked alongside Teresa, this milestone comes as no surprise. For nearly two decades at Group 4, she has become one of the studio’s most complete architects: someone who can navigate the technical complexity of a major public building just as fluently as she can communicate design intent to a city council, a community group, or a first-time collaborator. That breadth is uncommon, and it is central to what makes her such an asset to our clients and to the firm.

Shaping How Group 4 Builds

Teresa’s influence at Group 4 has never been limited to the projects she leads. She has been a key contributor to how the firm develops and maintains its technical standards, working to refine our processes and keep our practice on the leading edge of high-performance public architecture. Her deep knowledge of building systems and construction means she bridges design and delivery in ways that matter, maintaining strong working relationships with contractors and builders and ensuring that the buildings we design perform as well in practice as they do on paper. That kind of fluency across design and construction is something our public clients have come to rely on.

A Leader in Community Architecture

Teresa’s promotion also reflects the growing scope of her leadership in one of Group 4’s most active sectors. Her work on landmark projects like the LEED Platinum Palo Alto Mitchell Park Library and Community Center and the Zero Net Energy Burlingame Community Center gave her a foundation of experience with the demands of high-performance public buildings: technically complex, deeply community-facing, and requiring close collaboration at every scale. That experience has positioned her to take on more substantial leadership across some of Group 4’s most significant current and upcoming community projects.

She has also been a steady voice for sustainability across the firm and a mentor to the architects and staff who work alongside her, contributing to a culture of learning that reflects Group 4’s broader commitment to the communities we serve.

Congratulations, Teresa

Teresa’s promotion to Principal reflects who she has always been at Group 4: thorough, deeply collaborative, and genuinely committed to advancing both the practice and the public spaces it produces. We look forward to everything she will shape in the years ahead.
